After last night VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski stated that during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia Bujar Osmani to Bulgaria, he was asked to redefine the Macedonian nation and A new agreement similar to that of Prespa is signed with Constitutional changes, which will redefine the Macedonian nation and language from 1945 onwards, and before this year we were something else, today Minister Bujar Osmani came out with an answer, informs Dailynews.mk
Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani explains his visit to Bulgaria, where he met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his Bulgarian counterpart, Katerina Zaharieva.
Osmani says that the relations with Bulgaria are excellent and that the issues that have emerged from the good neighborly agreement are being implemented.
Osmani says that his visit to Bulgaria has been positive because all issues have been opened, mutual communication has been strengthened, but most importantly, as Osmani says, the common desire and interest for the European perspective of Northern Macedonia is reaffirmed.
“Regarding the relations with Bulgaria and my visit, I want to emphasize that there is no new agreement, but there is a strengthening of joint communication at several levels. Further, we openly talked about all the issues that arise from the neighborhood agreement, we take all steps to ensure the commissions work without obstacles, for which we sent thanks for their result achieved so far and inspiration for the intensification of their work. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the commission of experts will hold a meeting in Skopje, which represents another step towards fulfilling the obligations under the agreement.
Secondly, the visit to Bulgaria was positive, because all issues were opened, mutual communication was strengthened, but most importantly, the common desire and interest for the European perspective of Northern Macedonia was reaffirmed. I openly stated this in Sofia, as confirmed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva.
Finally, let me call for seriousness and political maturity. Relations with neighbors are not regulated by the placement of daily information in the public, much less by speculation or biased statements which are intended to heat up the atmosphere. “The European perspective is a challenge for our country, and not only for the Government, and it is an obligation for all of us,” Osmani said in response to Mickoski.
Otherwise, some problems have recently arisen regarding the Macedonian identity and language. Regarding these, Bulgaria says that the Macedonians are a people formed since 1944 and they were created by Tito. According to Bulgaria, Macedonians are from Bulgaria.
