Macron for the Western Balkans: Reform and help fight terrorism

France supports the European perspective of the countries from the Western Balkans and expects the countries from the Western Balkans to prove their commitment in three areas, said French President Emanuel Macron in the framework of the Berlin Process dedicated to the Western Balkans, reports Zhurnal.

“First, it is essential that the countries of the Western Balkans strengthen their cooperation. That is why I support the initiative to create a common regional market, based on the norms and principles of the European Union, including the four freedoms of the European Union. I welcome today ‘s approval of this initiative by the leaders of the six countries. Second, we expect the Western Balkans, the countries that make up this region, to accelerate structural reforms with an emphasis on fundamental reforms such as the rule of law and economic governance. It is inalienable to make progress in these areas to bring the region closer to the European Union. Third, the support of the Western Balkan countries to help us better fight terrorism is inalienable. “As the risk becomes even greater, both in the EU and in the Balkan region, enhanced cooperation and clear messages sent to our societies will be of common interest to all of us,” Macron said.
