Kosovo and Serbia clash during a virtual meeting of CEFTA

Kosovo’s minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi, has traded accusations with the Serbia’s state secretary, Oliva Jocic, who opposed Kosovo being presented as a state during a virtual meeting of the CEFTA members.

Kosovo’s ministry of Trade and Industry, in a statement said that minister Krasniqi has answered to Serbian official saying that Kosovo is an independent and democratic state, recognized by the most powerful and developed countries of the world. “Recognition of Serbia is insignificant. We are trying to have good neighborly relations. But you should know that Kosovo is an independent and democratic state,” Krasniqi told Serbia’s state secretary.

Krasniqi during the meeting has reiterated the request that Kosovo to be represented without UNMIK acronym in this regional trade initiative. Kosovo minister also asked that all members respect the CEFTA agreement, especially Serbia who as he said, is making difficult to Kosovo businesses use Serbia as transit for exporting their goods.
