Hoyt Ji: If Biden wins, he will commit to Macedonia’s EU membership

Former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Brian Hoyt Ji has stated that if Joe Biden is elected US President, he will support the integration of Northern Macedonia into the European Union, informs the Journal.

He is convinced that he will work for the integration of Northern Macedonia into the EU and hopes that Macedonia and Bulgaria will find the right way to overcome the problems.

“I strongly believe that Biden will be committed to the integration of Northern Macedonia into the EU. This is a decision that must be made by the EU and the US and their will can not be imposed, but we believe that we share common goals with some European countries. We want to see Northern Macedonia integrated into European institutions. “I look forward to Bulgaria and other EU countries finding a way to overcome the problems, so that Northern Macedonia can start negotiations as soon as possible,” Ji told VOA.

According to him, if Biden wins the US presidential election, his administration will ask the political elite in northern Macedonia to fight corruption, because, as he said, Skopje has a long way to go to meet the standards for EU membership.

“If you follow Joe Biden in recent decades, you will learn that he has always been committed to fighting corruption. “Recently, during his presidential campaign, he has made it clear that he sees the global fight against corruption as a priority for the United States,” said Ji, adding that Biden’s future administration would be involved in the fight against the news. false in our country which, according to him, are being done with the support of Russia and China.// Zhurnal.mk
