President Meta: Poverty in Albania twice higher than other countries in the region

Albanian President, Ilir Meta, took it on Twitter to denounce the current economic situation of the country.

Meta blames the whole political class for the “grave economic condition”, which has also been reported by several foreign organizations.

In his status, the president emphasized that poverty in Albania is twice higher than other countries in the Western Balkans region.

“With the escalation of the grave institutional and political crisis, particularly after the brutal violation of the consensual June 5 agreement and in the midst of a pandemic, the situation is deteriorating towards a national economic catastrophe which must be stopped on time”, said president Meta.

In addition, Meta appealed for unity for social justice.

“Albanians must take sovereignty into their own hands and I am convinced that their voice, not only will be heard, but its blast will be so strong that it will reach even to the furthest state office”, concluded Meta.
