Lily James: I make mistakes all the time…but I’m still learning

Lily James has spoken candidly about “making mistakes with an open heart” in a newly-published interview.

The 31-year-old sat down with Harper’s Bazaar with the interview happening before pictures of the actor canoodling with Dominic West in Italy were published earlier this week.

James explained that while she made mistakes in the past, she believes people can “recover” from wrongdoings.

“I think I make mistakes all the time,” she says. “That’s what life is all about. I would never want to run away from a situation or be too scared to act.

“I think that it’s better to throw yourself in and make mistakes with an open heart. If your instincts are right even if they’re misguided, or if you’re open, you know, you can recover from your mistakes and learn from them.”

She added that while she is trying to grow a thicker skin, she believes she’s still figuring things out when it comes to facing criticism.

“I think criticism can be useful if it’s constructive,” she said. “At times, it can feel really personal and it can feel like a vendetta and an attack against you, and that’s really difficult.
