Economic and political cooperation with the Czech Republic important for the country’s European integration

Promoting cooperation between the business communities of both countries in order to intensify trade exchange and establish business partnerships with which Northern Macedonian firms would enter the supply chains of multinational companies and increase their competitiveness and volume, was one of the topics discussed today by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Fatmir Bytyqi and the Czech Ambassador Miroslav Tomani.

At the meeting, as announced by the Cabinet of Bytyqi, it was assessed that there is great potential, but also a large field of opportunities for advancing economic cooperation, while agriculture, railway infrastructure and gas pipeline, potential water management, protection of the living environment and energy were highlighted as sectors that would be discussed in more detail at the next session of the Joint Commission between the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Czech Republic.

“Bytyqi and Tomani talked about the continuation of successful economic and political cooperation between the two countries and the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the companies of our country and the Czech Republic. Deputy Prime Minister Bytyqi stressed that the support of the Czech Republic and other European Union countries is very important for the European aspirations of Northern Macedonia and that he will work diligently to continuously advance cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that our country should use the experiences of EU member states to implement the necessary reforms for membership in the Union and create better living conditions for its citizens “, reads the statement.

Deputy Prime Minister Bytyqi and Ambassador Toman agreed that many of the activities planned in the coming period depend on the development of the health and socio-economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, however they will do their utmost for economic cooperation to continue to mark a positive trend.
