Derek Chisora offers to face Dillian Whyte in trilogy fight just three weeks after Oleksandr Usyk loss

Derek Chisora has offered to step in to replace Alexander Povetkin and fight Dillian Whyte just three weeks on from his last heavyweight clash.

The Londoner, who lost on points to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday, is willing to fight instead of Povetkin after the Russian was ruled out of the November 21 encounter following a positive test for Covid-19.

Promoter Eddie Hearn was speaking live on Instagram about the prospects for Whyte, suggesting a potential encounter with Tyson Fury, when Chisora joined him, saying: “Do you want to give me the fight? I’ll take that.”

Hearn replied that it “would be the fastest pay-per-view turnaround in history”, to which Chisora added: “It’s all about making history. Think about it, let me know and I’ll take it.”

Chisora was back training in the gym on Monday and is keen for a trilogy against Whyte, the pair having met most recently in 2018.

Of the next step for Whyte, Hearn said: “If we can find a massive fight for Dillian Whyte, we are ready to go again.

“Andy Ruiz, if you’re listening, let’s go. Dillian Whyte v Andy Ruiz is a quality fight.”
