Socks’n’sandals: a fashion faux pas or a sartorial symptom of this topsy turvy year?
According to David Beckham, who sported the controversial combination to his wife’s SS21 presentation as part of London Fashion Week, the pairing is monstrously back en vogue.
This isn’t the first time the former footballer has championed the peak ‘Dad’ look: last summer, he made headlines again for pairing his black Birkenstocks with a pair of scarlet socks.
But it would seem that it is in fact the naysayers who are missing the memo, for everybody from Justin Bieber to Kanye West have championed socks’n’sandals, which triggered a slew of brands (including Louis Vuitton and Acne Studios) last year to incorporate the anti-fashion styling trick into their AW19 collections.
Joined by three of his four children, Becks balanced out his ‘Dad’ shoe combo with an all-black athleisurewear ensemble. His sons Cruz and Romeo both sported recent Dior Men’s accessories: the former opted for a Dior Saddle Bag, while the latter sported a pair of the uber exclusive Air Jordan 1 OG Dior sneakers.
Becks’ only daughter also sported her Sunday best in a purple dress and matching mask by Victoria Beckham, which she rocked with a pair of Dr. Martens.
