Chair of KLA veteran association to remain in prison after being denied probation

The chairman the veteran association of Kosovo’s Liberation Army, Hysni Gucati, appeared for the first time in front of the judges of the Specialized Chambers on Thursday.

Gucati’s attorney asked for his client to be released on probation and argued against the legitimacy of the arrest, and placed a €5,000 as guarantee.

The Specialist Prosecutor’s Office determined that it is necessary to keep Gucati in prison and argued that he may attempt to “avoid justice” and “repeat the offenses he is suspected of having committed”.

The indictment against the chair of the veteran association will be confirmed within 30 days.

Gucasi is being accused for “obstruction of justice” and “witness intimidation” after several classified war files were leaked.

He was arrested in Pristina on September 25 at the headquarters of the veteran’s association.
