Albanian athlete Luiza Gega triumphed in the 16th Skopje Marathon, where she broke the national record by more than 23 minutes. The Skopje Marathon was held on October 4 under a special COVID-19 protocol and under the motto: “Running will change you”.
Luiza Gega told Euronews Albania that the marathon was a test to measure her physical conditions, during this time of absence of activities due to the pandemic.
She also shared her concern about the impossibility to train at the Elbasan Stadium, because of a decision taken two months ago to now allow training.
“Not one state in the world has prevented me to train,” she said.
Gega is an Albanian athlete specialized in middle-distance running. She is the Albanian record holder in the 800, 1500, and 3000 meters, and the 3000 meters steeplechase.
